Our vision is that every young child in Orange County will have access to the highest quality of care and education. For more than 80 years, Orange County AEYC's parent organization, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, "has worked to raise the quality of programs for all children from birth through age eight." A major part of NAEYC's effort to improve early childhood education is their system of accreditation for programs that meet national standards of quality.
NAEYC accreditation is a national, voluntary system to set professional standards for early childhood education programs, and to help families identify high-quality programs. Beyond the health and safety regulations established by state licensing, accreditation ensures quality adult-child interaction and developmentally appropriate activities.
